
During this project we will have the following services available in September and October:

Vinewood entrance will remain open and the Bacon House entrance will be available when needed

The Bacon House will remain open and have the following collections and services available:

Makerspace will remain open

Magazines & Newspapers

Browsing section will include: New items from all collections, Library of Things, and Video Games. All other library materials will be put into storage

Booksale, Puzzle Exchange, and Bacon cares

Circulation desk will be open

Faxing, printing (mobile or from a computer), copy machine, and notary will be available
-
Inter-Library Loan will still be available and we encourage patrons to place holds on items they need

Express computer use under 30 minutes

Bacon Memorial District Library Proudly Presents: Two Phase Renovation Plan
​
The main portion of Bacon Memorial Library has not been renovated since 1993. The following plans were designed by MCD Architects utilizing the feedback of Library patrons, Staff and the Library Board of Trustees. These renovations will enable our library to function better for you.

PHASE 1: MAIN LIBRARY RENOVATION
(Beginning September 2025 and scheduled to be done by the end of the year.)
This will include all areas on the main floor EXCEPT the bathrooms.

Raised floor will be removed and new flooring will be installed

Drop ceiling will be removed
-
Library will be repainted
-
New circulation desk in a new location
-
Four new study rooms
-
New designated area for the Friend’s book sale with shelving
-
Refreshed book shelving
-
New furniture through out the Main Library

PHASE 2: Further YOUTH Area RENOVATION AND BATHROOM REDESIGN (future project)​

The main collection is in storage and we have browsing collections in the house.

The Van Alstyne entrance is closed.
-
The makerspace is open.
-
There is no quiet study space and very limited seating in the Bacon House.

Construction and demolition continues.

Booksale is in the multipurpose room and will be off limits during programs.
-
We have 4 quick use laptops available for 30 minutes at a time.
-
Local History is open and available to use during open hours.
-
We have interlibrary loan, but no statewide delivery (MELCAT)
It's going to be a bumpy few months, but we can't wait for our new library! Remember your card is good at all libraries in the area!
