Purpose: "The Wyandotte Youth assistance Program is a community

based program sponsored by the City of Wyandotte and its

supplementary services through a grant from Wayne County.

This intervention/prevention program has been operating in our

community since 1988 in cooperation with families, the schools,

police department, juvenile court and other agencies.

The program utilizes trained volunteers who mentor youth

on a one-to-one basis. The family becomes involved in a

treatment plan specifically designed for each case."

  • Drug/Alcohol Abuse

  • Behavioral Problems
  • Family Conflicts
  • Commission of misdemeanor or felony

  • HOW ARE YOUTHS REFERRED:

  • Schools
  • Police Department
  • Parents
  • Juvenile Court
  • Agencies
  • Voluntary self-referrals

  • SERVICES ARE FREE, VOLUNTARY AND CONFIDENTIAL


    Vounteer Mentors are needed! A mentor will commit 1-2 hours per week

    for a minimum of 6 months to ensure continuity in the implementation of

    programs goals.


    Mentor training is free and the need is great.
