The Friends of Bacon Library offer an ever-changing
selection of books and other media for sale in the
library's multi-purpose room during library hours.
A New Harvest: Eating Healthy for You and Your Family:
Saturday, Oct 1st @ 2:30pm. Come in for a presentation on eating for better health,
based on the popular food author Michael Pollan's Food Rules. We'll talk about
easy ways to shop for healthier food, resources for eating locally, and the
importance of eating as a family. Snacks (healthy ones of course!) will be provided.
Guided Tour of Bacon House
Saturday, October 1st, at 10am.
Join us for a guided tour of the historic house that is home to Bacon Library.
They are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month at 10am.

Drop in Computer Help: Every Monday in Oct, & Nov.
Starting Monday, Oct, 3rd and ending Monday, Nov 28th patrons are welcome
to drop by the library from 12:30-2pm and receive more in-depth help from
one of our librarians with their related computer questions. Need help creating a resume,
applying for jobs online, or want to create an email address?
Stop on by we will be happy to assist you. No reservations required
Celebrate Our 125th Birthday!
October 4th is the library's 125th Birthday. On that date in 1886,
the Wyandotte Public Library opened with fulltime service.
Join us on Tuesday, October 4th to see a display of library history,
have some cake, and enter a drawing to win a copy of The History
of the Public Library in Wyandotte, Mi. written by Wallace Hayden.
As a thank you to the community for 125 years of support,
videos and DVDs (limit of 5) may be checked out for free that day

Patricia Majher will be presenting a program on lady lighthouse keepers
featured in her book Ladies of the Lights: Michigan Women in the U.S. Lighthouse Service.
There will be a book signing and copies of her books availabale affterwards.
The Friends of Bacon Library 2nd Annual Spell Bowl
Wednesday, October 12th at 7pm. Friends, family members, co-workers......
Get those little gray cells working in this fast-paced, friendly game. Work as a team to provide written, correct spellings to selected words. No stress, just a lot of very lively FUN!
Gather a team of 4 people (one team member must be 18 years or older) to compete. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Registration is only $40 per team; forms are available at the library. Spelling list provided upon receipt of payment. Your tax deductable entry fee benefits the Friends of Bacon Library, a 501(c)3 organization. The Friends of Bacon are always seeking new members. Attend one of our meetings held the 4th Mondays of each month at 7pm.
Picture It @ your library
Teen Halloween Cookie Baking 6th grade & up
Thursday, October 20th at 4pm. Come and bake some Halloween
cookies with us. Registration is a must call at 734-246-8357.
Teens, Picture It @ your library: - October 16th-22nd.
Hey teens, we want you to Picture It in Wyandotte! Take a photo
of your favorite place in Wyandotte. You may use photo software to edit
it and make it creative if you want. All photos need to be emailed to Kelly
at kray@baconlibrary.org by October 12th! We will then make a cool
Wyandotte Poster which will be displayed the week of October 16th.
Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest October 17th - 31st.
Bring in a decorated (not carved) pumpkin from October 17th-24th.
Pumpkins can be decorated with glue, material, painted, etc., but they must not be cut!
Voting will take place Oct 27th through the close of business on Halloween day.
Family Fun Night October 17th, at 6:30pm at Bacon Library
Join us for Pumpkin Decorating! Pumpkins and supplies will be provided,
but feel free to bring supplies. We will not be carving pumpkins,
just decorating them. Pumpkins may be entered in our Pumpkin Contest.

Halloween @ Bacon Library: Saturday, October 22nd, from 1-3pm.
The Music Lady will be performing fun Halloween songs from 1-2pm.
Then the first floor of the Bacon House will be open for fun trick-or-treating
and games at 2pm along with crafts in the multipurpose room at 2:15-3pm.
