Welcome to Bacon Memorial District Library

The Library has been an integral part of the community since 1886. Our home has been at this location since 1942, when the beautiful Bacon House was donated for use as a library. The historic home is open to the public and houses our magazine and local history collections, as well as meeting rooms and offices.

We offer a wide and ever-changing array of materials, programs and services, and through our affiliation with The Library Network and the statewide Mel Catalog, our resources are greatly expanded. If there are materials we don't own at our library, we can request them to be sent here for you from other sources at no charge. The information desk is staffed by knowledgeable librarians during all our open hours who may be contacted in person or via phone, email or chat to provide answers to any questions you may have.

The library is currently having a new geothermal heating and cooling system installed.  While the main part of the library remains open to the public during construction, we have had to close the Bacon House to the public.  The Bacon House houses our local history and genealogy collection, along with magazines, quiet study areas, and one of our meeting rooms, which are all presently not accessible.  We hope to have the project finished and the house back open to the public by the middle of September.  We’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during construction and we all look forward to the project’s completion!
