Welcome to Wyandotte and

Bacon Memorial District Library

The Library has been an integral part of the community since 1886. Our home has been at this location since 1942, when the beautiful Bacon House was donated for use as a library. The historic home is open to the public and houses our magazine and local history collections, as well as meeting rooms and offices.

We offer a wide and ever-changing array of materials, programs and services, and through our affiliation with The Library Network and the statewide Mel Catalog, our resources are greatly expanded. If there are materials we don't own at our library, we can request them to be sent here for you from other sources at no charge. The information desk is staffed by knowledgeable librarians during all our open hours who may be contacted in person or via phone, email or chat to provide answers to any questions you may have.

The Wyandotte Historical Society is hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus at the library. Stop in anytime from 10-1 or 2-4:30 on December 13th to visit with them. Follow the candy cane trail to Mrs. Claus continuously reading The Night Before Christmas and to Santa waiting to hear those important wishes. There will also be a one-of-a-kind Gift Shop where only children may shop for their "special someone"! Our annual build a gingerbread house program will be held December 6th at 11am and 12:30pm. Registration is required so please call or visit our online calendar to register.

As we have done in years past, Bacon Library is once again a collection site for a variety of charitable organizations this holiday season. Our patrons have always been most generous; please consider donating to any or all of these great programs again this year:

Toys for Tots is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children through December 12th.

New hats, gloves, mittens and scarves may be brought in until December 27th to decorate our Mitten Tree. Items will be taken to local charities for distribution to the needy.

Pets Need Comfort, Too: Beginning December 1st through Dec. 27th the library will be collecting gently used but clean blankets, towels, sheets, washcloths, bowls, leashes, collars, pet beds, food, etc. for pet shelters and local veterinarians.

Waynewright Community Meals is seeking sample AND full size of soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, combs, toothbrushes, etc. to distribute to their guests during their annual holiday party. Items can be donated through December 6th.

Bacon Library wishes you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!
